In February, we got tired of all the snow in Sanpete and decided to head for San Diego! We hadn't seen some of our California friends for quite awhile, and they had never seen Ethan in person, so we thought it was about time to head on out there. It was about a 10 hour drive, but Ethan did great (thanks to the portable DVD player we bought for this trip)!!
Disneyland
Our first stop was Disneyland, our favorite place to go (I don't think we can go to California without a stop at the Happiest Place on Earth!). This was Ethan's first time there, and even though he probably won't remember it, he had a great time meeting all his favorites from watching the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!
We spent most of the day riding the rides in Fantasyland. Ethan loved Peter Pan's Flight (his mom's favorite ride) and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (his dad's favorite) and all the other rides. He even loved The Haunted Mansion! By the end of the day he was so worn out that when we took him on Pirates of the Carribbean, he fell asleep!
SeaWorld
The next day we visited Shamu at SeaWorld! I hadn't been there in over 20 years so I thought it was time to go and check it out. We met up with Meghan and Maddie Watson. Ethan loved all the animals, especially the starfish. He even got to pick one up and pet it. We also saw the penguins, dolphins, killer whales. At the end of the day, Ethan got a chance to play with his mom at Sesame Street's Bay of Play!
Balboa Park, Seaport Village, and Coronado Island
On our last day there, we met up with Lee and Amy and their families for a picnic and train ride at Balboa Park. Ethan got to meet his California "cousins" and they had fun running around in the grass. After that we went to walk around Seaport Village, and then over to Coronado Island for dinner and a walk on the beach. Ethan LOVED the beach and we could hardly pull him away from it. He fell down in the water and we had to clean him off in the public bathrooms there. People probably thought I was crazy when they walked in and saw me drying his clothes off under the hand dryers in the bathroom!
We had a blast on this trip...too bad it couldn't have been longer. We posted more pictures on facebook, so be sure to check them out!
